BOND STREET PUBLIC REALM IMPROVEMENTS OFFICIALLY COMPLETED
Publica is celebrating the completion event of Bond Street’s public realm enhancements.
Working for Westminster City Council (WCC), in partnership with the New West End Company (NWEC), and Transport for London (TfL), Publica developed an elegant and unified design for Bond Street alongside traffic and transport specialists NRP and highway engineers WSP. FM Conway-WSP delivered the design, and the majority of the works are now in place.
By prioritising pedestrians in its urban design, the Bond Street project will improves the visitor experience and the setting of buildings through widened footpaths, improved pedestrian crossings, new paving and lighting, tree planting and seating. The design is tailored for each part of the street’s practical and space-specific needs, better connecting Old and New Bond Street into the surrounding areas of Mayfair and the West End.
On October 18th, NWEC and WCC led a celebration of the ambitious public realm improvements on Bond Street, which included speeches from Westminster Leader Nickie Aiken, Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration, and Skills Jules Pipe, and NWEC Chief Executive Jace Tyrrell. A commemorative document by Publica of commissioned photography shows the change Bond Street has undergone in its revitalisation as a world-class commercial destination.
