Urban Design and Masterplanning DirectorPublica is looking for an ambitious, world-class designer to take onthe role of Director of Urban Design and Masterplanning.
The practice enjoys an unrivalled reputation within the development sector and a strong portfolio of current and prospective projects. We are looking for a new Director of Urban Design and Masterplanning to cement our reputation as leaders in the field.
Publica works at, and moves seamlessly between, every scale – from details, juxtapositions and materials within the public realm to strategies for entire urban districts and key urban assets such as the River Thames. The successful candidate must be capable of operating holistically between and across all these scales whilst delivering ambition and quality in each.

We are looking for a talented and organised Personal Assistant. This position is responsible for providing full administrative and executive support to the Founding Director and the Director of Business and Operations, carrying out a range of administrative duties to support the smooth and effective running of the practice and its business development. This position requires a high degree of responsibility, discretion and confidentiality.

We are looking for a talented and conscientious Graphic Designer to join our in-house graphic design team to contribute to the overall visual direction of the studio and implement Publica’s visual identity principles across all of our outputs; which can include publications, presentations, film, animation, photography, illustration, signage, colour schemes and bespoke project identities. This fast-paced role involves collaborating and working closely with Publica’s urban design teams, communications team and research team on the development of visual concepts and the production of a wide range of materials to a high standard.
The ideal candidate will have experience working on editorial design projects and taking them from inception to completion; an excellent eye for detail and typography within a fast-paced environment; the ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines across several projects; excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm for working collaboratively.

Communications and Marketing Manager
This is an exciting new opportunity at Publica to develop the practice’s marketing and communications activities to take them to the next level. The Communications and Marketing Manager will work closely with the leadership team to develop and implement the practice’s communications and marketing strategy to support the evolution and growth of the business.
The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator with excellent writing skills and an eye for visual content and narratives. They will be able to demonstrate an ability to deliver successful press coverage, coordinated with a well-structured campaign, to build profile and awareness of a launch, project or key milestone. Previous experience working in a similar role at an architecture/built environment practice is desirable.

Projects Directors work at a senior level within the practice to lead teams delivering and developing urban design proposals and strategies for public spaces on high profile sites across London. This is a client-facing role that will suit candidates with a strong design background in architecture or landscape architecture, with experience of developing proposals for public spaces, managing teams and working closely with private and public sector clients at a decision-making level.
A Landscape Architect with over three years of experience in designing, detailing and delivering public realm schemes and experience in the analysis of wider scale urban conditions and a thorough technical knowledge of the delivery of public realm schemes. Publica is particularly interested in candidates with experience in designing, detailing and delivering hard landscape and streetscape schemes.
Publica is looking for an experienced and conscientious researcher who can support our project work, commissioned research projects and our internal research programme. It will be the responsibility of the researcher to help ensure Publica’s outputs projects and proposals are based on a thorough understanding of current policy contexts, and help to shape Publica’s contribution to London-wide and national debates on key issues relating to cities, urban neighbourhoods, and the public realm.The ideal candidate will have previous experience working for a local authority, national government, a campaign or advocacy organisation, or in-house at a built environment/architecture practice. They will also have a keen interest in and knowledge of the creation and influencing of UK and urban policy, development of cities, urban neighbourhoods, and the public realm.

Urban Designers and Project Assistants
Urban Designer and Project Assistant candidates should have RIBA Part I or II, Masters or equivalent qualification, with all ranges of professional experience. This includes experience in both detailed analytical work and of producing urban design and public realm proposals. Senior Urban Designers
The role of a Senior Urban Designer is to manage projects and help support the development of our growing business. Key responsibilities will be to lead a team consisting of Urban Designers and Project Assistants in delivering, planning, designing and writing area surveys, public realm studies, public realm visions and concept designs for sites across London. This is a client-facing role working closely with the Project Directors and other members of the team. Potential candidates should have a minimum of five years' industry experience working on detailing and delivering public realm schemes and a thorough understanding of our sector. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, preparing and delivering public realm strategies, masterplans and concept designs for sites across London and the UK.
