HEART OF LONDON BUSINESS ALLIANCE LAUNCHES STRATEGY FOR A NEW ARTS QUARTER
A new hub for world-class arts and culture in London's West End
A network of small and characterful streets connect the world-famous destinations of Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Piccadilly and Haymarket. Commissioned by the Heart of London Business Alliance, Publica has worked with Future City to reimagine the area as an Arts Quarter for the Heart of London. More than just connectors, these streets will act as the blank canvas for the wide range of artistic expression generated by the quarter’s theatre, film, visual arts, fashion and retail, and its cultural anchor institutions – the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Japan Centre, Harold Pinter Theatre and The National Watercolour Society.
Launched on 23 February 2022, Arts Quarter Strategy aims to create a distinctive, recognisable, world-class destination that attracts cultural attractions to the area and encourages people to stay and spend time. Publica collaborated with Heart of London Business Alliance and Future City to propose an overarching culture and art place identity, cultural placemaking opportunities, as well as public realm and transport design proposals.
