celebrating the launch of the Evening and Night Time ECONOMY Strategy, VISION and Action Plan for the Heart of London Business Alliance
On Tuesday the 28th of March, we celebrated the launch of our Evening and Night Time Vision, Strategy and Action Plan for the Heart of London Business Alliance. The report’s launch marks over four years of strategic thinking and collaborative work on this brilliant part of London.
As a key part of the West End, the Heart of London and its visitors, residents and night workers make up an exciting and unique local ecosystem, and a fundamental part of London as a 24-hour world city. The area is renowned for its night time culture: composed of theatres, music venues, restaurants and clubs. It is an economically vital component of the city’s operations, and an iconic destination for tourists and residents alike.
Our work on the Heart of London area begun in 2019. As a case study for the dynamism of London’s culture, diversity, night time employment and late night activity, the pandemic marked a painful disruption to this thriving locale, and we are excited to be witnessing the strong return to the public and cultural spaces across the Heart of London area.
Our in-depth analysis of policy and strategies, international precedents, street level land use, opening hours and community engagement has allowed us to work with stakeholders to pinpoint an exciting vision and a meaningful strategy and action plan. We have been so lucky to work with the fantastic team at the Heart of London Business Alliance and ADUP. The Evening and Night Time strategy and action plan builds on our 2019 Scoping and Placeshaping strategies, and Future City’s 2020 Cultural Strategy.
