London First champions Aldwych, Hanover Square and East Mayfair projects
London First has announced that it will be backing three transformational public realm projects in the West End at Aldwych, Hanover Square and East Mayfair. It’s hoped that by championing these schemes the group, comprised of The Portman Estate, Arup, The Crown Estate and Grosvenor Britain and Ireland, can work with the West End Business Improvement Districts to confirm funding and delivery within the next five years.
Publica produced the public realm visions and urban design proposals for all of the selected schemes. The Northbank BID commissioned Publica’s work on Aldwych, Westminster City Council and Great Portland Estates commissioned our work on Hanover Square, and The Pollen Estate commissioned the East Mayfair project.
Jasmine Whitbread, Chief Executive of London First, said: “The plans for Aldwych, Hanover Square and East Mayfair promise to transform the areas, making them more open, accessible and attractive for residents, local businesses and the millions of people who visit the West End each year. To make sure they don’t get stuck on the drawing board, business is joining forces to champion the work, delivering real ambition and investment for London and our world-famous streets.”
Publica is very pleased that these projects have received recognition from London First, and look forward to continuing to work with our clients, local authorities and Transport for London to ensure that these schemes are delivered.
