IN CONVERSATION: PUBLICA AND ARCHITECTURE TODAY ON BUILDING INCLUSIVE CITIEs

Publica’s Founding Director, Lucy Musgrave; Director, Anna Mansfield; Senior Urban Researcher, Gaia Crocella; and Urban Designer, Lou Elena Bouey, spoke with Architecture Today about Publica’s approach to developing transformative public spaces and the CIC’s Campaign for Inclusive Cities.  

The team discussed the CIC’s international initiative in collaboration with CHANGE (City Hub and Network for Gender Equity), Gender Based Violence In Public Space: Developing An Evidence-Base and Action Plan With Three Cities. 

The project has engaged hundreds of women in its first city destination, Louisville, with the Louisville Metro Office for Women, and in Bogotá, with Secretaría de la Mujer. This week, the CIC team will be in Stockholm to deliver the final phase of the project.  

It was a brilliant discussion with Nelly Greig from Architecture Today, highlighting the importance of understanding the lived experiences of women, girls and gender diverse people in urban spaces to create a more participatory and inclusive public realm.
