PUBLICA TO SUPPORT DELIVERY OF MAYOR’S TRANSFORMATIVE OXFORD STREET REGENERATION PLANS
October 2025

City Hall has appointed Publica as part of an innovative design team led by architecture and landscape practice East to design and deliver the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan’s transformative and ambitious plans to regenerate Oxford Street.
Publica will support the design of the first phase of the Oxford Street Transformation Programme between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street. This includes developing public realm proposals for almost a mile of the most iconic part of the street, in collaboration with East, urban strategy and design consultancy Gehl, landscape practice J&L Gibbons and NRP, FM Conway, Etude, Temple, Ubidermis and 59 Studio.
Hawkins/Brown, alongside Aspect Studio, will prepare a Whole Street Concept Design for the full length of Oxford Street from Marble Arch to Tottenham Court Road.
Publica has reshaped the public streets and spaces in and around Oxford Street for over 15 years, including the award-winning transformation of Bond Street, Hanover Square and Marylebone Lane. Publica has set visions for major landowners across this district, including our recent work at Marble Arch with The Portman Estate.
LONDON'S WALKING AND CYCLING COMISSIONER WILL NORMAN COMMENTED:
"These outstanding design teams bring a wealth of experience on world-renowned projects, from New York’s Times Square and Sydney’s Darling Square to the Bond Street revamp and Here East in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park... They have the creativity and expertise needed to reimagine one of London’s most iconic high streets and help deliver the mayor’s bold and ambitious Oxford Street Transformation Programme."
