PUBLICA CIC AND MOSAIC LGBT+ YOUNG PERSON'S TRUST WIN CAMDEN RISE'S YOUTH SAFETY MULTI-MEDIA COMPETITION
December 2024
Publica CIC and Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust are thrilled to have won Camden Council’s Youth Safety Multi-Media Competition, at the launch event of Youth Celebration Week.
Placing joint first place with Regent’s Park Young Guardians, the event highlighted the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for young people in Camden to flourish. Publica CIC had the fantastic opportunity to hear from Councillor Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Young People, and Culture, and Camden Youth MP Zarin Bakhshzaad, who shared their valuable insights on empowering the borough's youth.
For our submission, we explored feelings of safety and belonging in a series of workshops with young LGBT + persons, who attend a weekly youth club at Mosaic Trust’s centre in Camden.
In collaboration with videographer and editor Emily George, we created a powerful video manifesto ‘Safety and Belonging in our Camden’, which captures the voices and creativity of queer youth, setting out an inclusive, transformative vision for Camden where all young persons can be their true, unfiltered selves.
The project is part of Publica CIC and Mosaic Trust’s aim to amplify and empower the voices of young LGBT+ people in the built environment, centring queer youth experiences and insights at a systemic level and creating positive change in Mosaic’s community.
