women's night safety summit 2026
March 2026

Shaping a safer, more inclusive city starts with listening to the lived experiences of women, girls and non-binary people.
At this year’s Women’s Night Safety Summit, Ellie Cosgrave and Gaia Crocella presented Right to the City, Publica CIC’s live action research programme exploring how women, girls and non-binary people experience the City of London after dark.
Through joyful, creative and participatory workshops, the project engaged with 287 participants, empowering them to shape their neighbourhoods, and by extension – their lives.
Gaia also joined the panel Creating Inclusive Spaces: Safety, Parks & Urban Belonging alongside Dr Anna Barker (University of Leeds), Ed Stannard (Parks for London) and Ruth Lin Wong Holmes (London Legacy Development Corporation) to discuss tangible approaches to creating safer public spaces for women and girls.
Public spaces shape who feels welcome, confident, and able to participate in everyday life. By centring lived experience and working collaboratively, we can design cities where everyone feels they truly belong.
