Publica’s Ellie Cosgrave joinS the discussion ON HOW CAN WE DESIGN CITIES FOR WOMEN
Publica’s Ellie Cosgrave recently joined a panel discussion on ‘How can we Design Cities for Women?’, briefly presenting Publica’s most recent work for The Mayor’s Good Growth by Design programme, Women and Girls Safety in Public Space.
Ellie presented Publica’s upcoming report on underscoring London’s commitment to advancing gender equality in our city and tangible actions that can be undertaken on urban development projects towards this aim. To do this, Publica draws on key literature to lay out the fundamental principles of gender inclusive urban development, present a framework for thinking about women, girls and gender minorities’ safety in cities and provide a set of exploratory questions to guide the urban realm projects on the ground.
Ellie joined the panel alongside Teri Okoro, Founder of TOCA and Mayors Design Advocate, Sara Candiracci, Associate Director, Lead Inclusive and Resilient Cities at Arup, Pablo Navarrete Hernandez, Lecturer at the Department of Landscape Architecture at University of Sheffield, Susannah Walker from Make Space for Girls, Sarah Hughes, Associate Director at MACE and Anna Wendt, Partner at Buro Happold. An event was chaired by Marina Milosev, Principal Planning Policy Officer and Tifenn Kergosien, Senior Planning Manager at London Legacy Development Corporation.
