Since joining Publica in 2018, Astrid has been working on public realm and urban design strategies across the West End, Southwark, Camden, and the City of London, including the Oxford Street District Placeshaping Objectives and Framework, Proposal for the public realm at Marble Arch and a significant project for The Crown Estate. She is currently coordinating a public realm design scheme in Islington.
Astrid trained in architecture at Oxford Brookes University and the Royal College of Art. Prior to joining Publica, she worked at multi-disciplinary design studio The Decorators and DSDHA, where she was involved in a range of commercial and residential projects. In 2016, along with other DSDHA colleagues, Astrid was awarded a two-year Research Fellowship in the Built Environment by the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851. Her research explored the notion of ‘The Beautiful Everyday Journey’ with the aim to make cycling a more pleasurable, exciting and accessible mode of transport in Central London.
Astrid is also an Associate Lecturer at Chelsea College of Art, where she runs a design research studio on the BA Interior and Spatial Design course.
