Daniel joined Publica in 2019 and has worked across a range of research projects, public realm surveys and placemaking strategies. He conducted research for the GLA’s Night Time Strategies Guidance for Boroughs, setting out examples of best practice for the planning and management of night time activities in London. He continues to work with the GLA 24-hour team to support boroughs developing holistic night time strategies. He has conducted a literature review outlining the links between urban design and quality of life for local communities and coordinated research for the London Sustainable Development Commission exploring ways to embed social value in development and regeneration pro-jects across London.
He was part of the team that developed the recently adopted Newham Cultural Strategy and has also mapped community, creative and cultural facilities in Newham to support council policy-making and regeneration objectives. He has also coordinated an engagement project in Wandsworth to support the development of their night time strategy and worked with LB Bromley to develop a toolkit for businesses looking to operate in the town centre at night as part of the Night Time Enterprise Zone.
Daniel holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Urban Planning and Design from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and an undergraduate degree in Geography from the University of Edinburgh. His master thesis explored perceptions of age-friendliness in Stockholm among elderly communities.
