Daniel joined Publica in 2019 and has since worked across a range of research projects, public realm surveys and strategies. He conducted research for the GLA’s Night Time Strategies Guidance for Boroughs, setting out examples of best practice around the planning and management of night time activities and produced a literature review outlining the links between urban design and quality of life for local communities. More recently, he helped develop a vision for a linear park along a post-industrial stretch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in Pennine Lancashire and is currently researching the impact of electric vehicle infrastructure on the public realm for a project in China’s Guangdong Province.
Daniel holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Urban Planning and Design from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and an undergraduate degree in Geography from the University of Edinburgh. His master thesis explored perceptions of age-friendliness in Stockholm among elderly communities. Using an in-depth, mixed method approach which included participant photography and mental mapping, the research outlined some evidence-based policy recommendations for achieving age-friendly public realm design.
