Visions, Strategies and Masterplans
Publica’s visions, strategies and masterplans establish robust principles for regeneration projects, developments and masterplans. We investigate and analyse the social, cultural and spatial needs of a place to report on how it could successfully grow and evolve. Our engaging, visually-led documents act as advocacy tools to help our clients to set principles and build consensus around new projects.
Urban Design
Publica designs public spaces that celebrate civic dignity and enhance everyday life. Our context-led approach to urban design includes studying the history and character of a place, analysing its complex social, cultural and spatial characteristics and proposing bold, ambitious solutions for improved enjoyment, use and function. We work with multi-stakeholder groups and collaborate with expert consultants in highways engineering, transport planning, landscape design, architecture and heritage conservation to create beautiful civic space for all types of users.
Research
Publica applies a consistent, research-led approach across all of our projects, at every scale. We conduct fieldwork and desk-based research that informs all of our work – on issues that include the successful integration of new development; civic amenity; social, cultural and physical infrastructure; use and activation; streetscapes; climate change; air quality; housing renewal; culture and public art; transport and active travel; greenery; play; heritage and conservation; the creative economy; design quality and best practice in urban change.
Identity and Communications
Outstanding communication tools are fundamental to our aim of developing and sharing complex ideas and building engagement, support and consensus around strategies to improve the public realm. We have a strong track record of producing highly-regarded publications, films and website designs to support our projects and have built on this expertise to develop Identity and Communications as a service area, carrying out commissions for select clients who share our ethos and agenda and have an interest in making real improvements to the city.
